Jealous Beck here, had to have Daddy hold her after he was holding Lenna. The outfit she's wearing has taken over from the red coat which is no longer an obsession. This particular outfit; a little too small for her is a cute summery outfit for an infant. I had put it in her drawer my mistake, but she found it and she's been wearing it constantly ever since.

A couple of times a year, I'm guessing during migration times a huge amount of blackbirds congregate in the neighborhood. They stop by our pool cover for a drink, and fly around all the trees and yards in the area. It's quite interesting to watch, and to listen because the large flock makes a lot of noise chattering away.

Today was the annual Santa Parade at the Preakness shopping center. Seems like there are fewer and fewer spectators every year, and the parade itself is getting smaller. Oh well. The girls still love going, especially since they get free popcorn and free candy.

The girls were waiting to go see Santa and I managed to get a decent shot for our holiday cards!

Maggie & Susan were quite happy sitting and talking at length to Santa about what they want for Christmas. They loved what Santa told them ~ they are magical because they are able to keep making hugs and kisses. "You can run out of popcorn but you never run out of hugs and kisses." Amen to that.

However, Lenna was not quite so happy. I love how it looks like Susan is saying "it's ok, Lenna!" Classic Santa photo fail.

Becky is very stubborn when it comes to clothes. She has about two things she likes to wear, and one of them is pajamas. We went to Kohl's and JC Penney and got her 4 outfits for winter time, and so far this one has been her favorite. Hopefully I can wean her off the summer dress she insists on wearing 24/7 and make sure she's dressed warmly for the cold months ahead!

Happy Halloween! All the girls had a great time and got lots of candy. Becky really got the hang of Trick-or-Treating very quickly. Lenna had fun eating her tail and various parts of the stroller.

We spent the afternoon at Christ Church in Pompton Lakes today. They had a nice little Halloween festival, which included everything from facepainting, pin-the-face-on-a-mummy, musical chairs, decorate your own cupcakes, mini-pumpkin hunt, donut-on-a-string eating, and guess how many candies are in a jar. Maggie had a lot of fun eating the donut-on-a-string, and Susan was the big winner of the jar of candy! 253 pieces to be exact; she guessed, with Anthony's help of course, that there were 250 pieces.

School photos came home today. I'm not sure why Maggie's hair looks so messy, but her face and smile look great. Susan looks very grown-up all of a sudden as well.

MaryJane brought over a cute caterpillar made of chocolate chip cookies with icing in between, shaped to look like a catepillar. Complete with thin pretzel sticks for antenna and mini chocolate chips for eyes. The girls devoured it.

Maggie is going to be Hermione for Halloween, so we've been testing out various things to make her hair curly. We tried putting her hair in rollers when it was wet ~ it came out great so that's what we'll do for school on Friday and for Halloween on Sunday. I think she looks cute with short hair, personally!

Pequannock had a "ho-down" today at a beautiful park near Chilton Hospital. There was lots of food, good music, various booths with fun little games of chance, and an area with various rides for little kids. The girls had fun, and Becky even got to go on the elephant ride, twice and the little "train" ride. The weather was perfect and we all had a nice couple of hours at the park.

A rather nice-sized spider has built an impressive web between our front porch and the shrubbery. I tried to get a photo of it but it scampered away up to the gutter. I think it lives in the gutter. It really looks huge here; in reality its body is slightly larger than a quarter, and it is a light brown color.

She's sitting up! She gets into this position on her own, too. The other girls definitely took longer to master that trick.

We spent a good part of the day at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ. Here the girls are flying over Mars as if they were in a hang glider.

There's a big exhibit on buildings and how they are built. They also have two pieces of metal from the twin towers; one is twisted and one was a support piece which is remarkably in good shape.

Susan enjoyed looking at various bug parts through the microscopes.

The center is in Jersey City, just across the Hudson from downtown Manhattan. I'm still not used to the skyline without the twin towers. They should be right in the center of this photo.
